Fertility Treatment Centre - Creating Families

One in six couples face the problem of infertility, but only every other couple seeks medical attention. Infertility is defined as a situation where a woman has not been able to conceive for a period of one year, even though the couple has not been using contraception. Infertility is rarely conclusive – this can only be said if the woman has no uterus and fallopian tubes, or if the ovaries have stopped working. It is also very rare for men to have no sperm. But at the same time, the longer the infertility lasts, the less likely it is to become pregnant. Both fertility and the success of the fertility treatment are greatly affected by a woman’s age: as a woman ages, her fertility decreases and the effectiveness of the fertility treatment decreases as well.

It is important to find out the causes of both male and female infertility.

Studies have shown that in about a third of cases, the cause of infertility lies with the female, in another third it lies with the male, and in a third of cases, both partners have reduced levels of fertility. In about 10% of couples, the cause of infertility remains unclear. But regardless of the cause of infertility, the use of in vitro fertilisation, or IVF, can help to achieve the best results.
